In 1992, the church was devastated by fire in an arson attack, leaving much of this historic building in ruins.\u003cspan class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"384\" data-end=\"607\"\u003eOn the evening I made this photograph, the low sunlight passed directly through the Celtic cross in the churchyard, creating a beautiful starburst and casting warm light across the gravestones and the remains of the church.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"801\"\u003eThere was something particularly moving about seeing that light fall upon a place that has endured so much.
